How was the U.S. Ambassador’s Youth Council established?
U.S. Ambassador’s Youth Council was established in March 2018 by Ambassador Stephen B. King and was set as a non-profit organization later. Since then, the Council works as an official body with clearly stated goals and agenda.

Our history
It was Ronan Farrow, the Special Adviser for Global Youth Issues under Secretary of State who in 2011 first introduced the idea of a cooperation between American diplomacy and young people. This concept was adopted and developed by many countries all over the world and thanks to the Ambassador King, the Czech Republic was added on the list of these countries in 2018.
Ambassador King established the U.S. Ambassador’s Youth Council in Prague in March 2018 as a reminder of the 100 year old Czech-American bilateral relations. The goals of the Youth Council are to enrich the education of young people in matter of public relations and to strengthen the Czech-American partnership. This core idea is enshrined in the preamble to the Youth Council’s Charter. Within the first year of its existence, the council became a non-profit organization, under which a proper organization structure was created. Within the same year the council also finished its first significant educational project “A Republic If You Can Keep It”. Patrons of the Council are Ambassador Stephen King and Ambassador Petr Kolář. Thanks to our cooperation with Ambassador Petr Kolář and army general Petr Pavel we were able to start the Youth Council Town Halls educational project.
We welcomed our newest members in the Fall of 2020. As of now, the Council works on several smaller long-term projects and is planning the next main project for 2021. We also cooperate long term with other partners - Sněmovní 7, Občané Pro, Police Academy ČR, YC Budapest, American Center and the American corner in Ostrava.
What does our organization looks like?
The basic units of the Youth Councils are sections, whose members focus on specific projects or the management of the Council itself. These sections are coordinated by the Council’s board, which also creates the strategy for the entire organization. Each section is headed by one of the members, the board is then led by its director.
